Summary OPEC+ seven countries agree 188,000 bpd output adjustment from June 2026, reaffirm market stability commitment, monthly reviews, and full compliance with production agreements
JEDDAH (Dunya News) - Oil-producing countries have decided to implement a coordinated adjustment in oil production amid recent developments in the global energy market, according to OPEC.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) stated that seven member states including Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iraq, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Algeria, and Oman have agreed on an adjustment of 188,000 barrels per day in oil production. The decision was taken alongside a renewed commitment to maintain stability in the oil market.
It is worth mentioning that a few days earlier, the United Arab Emirates announced its departure from OPEC after remaining a member of the oil-producing group for approximately 59 years.
Under the collective agreement, the seven OPEC+ countries reiterated their joint commitment to market stability and confirmed that the production adjustment will be implemented under the additional voluntary measures announced in April 2023.
The adjustment is set to take effect in June 2026. It was also agreed that the voluntary measures introduced in April 2023 may be partially or fully reversed depending on evolving market conditions.

The participating countries emphasized continuous monitoring and review of market conditions, stressing the importance of maintaining a cautious and flexible approach to ensure stability. They also highlighted the ability to pause, increase, or reduce production when necessary, including reversing voluntary measures introduced in November 2023.
The seven countries further stated that this step would allow participating members to accelerate their compensation process.
They reaffirmed full commitment to the Declaration of Cooperation, including additional voluntary production adjustments, which will be monitored by the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee. They also confirmed that any excess production after January 2024 will be fully compensated.
The OPEC+ members agreed to hold monthly meetings to review market conditions, compliance with agreements, and compensation mechanisms. The next meeting is scheduled for June 7, 2026.
