Summary Pakistani rupee posts a marginal gain against the US dollar in interbank trading as the business week closes with slight currency movement.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Pakistani rupee recorded a modest improvement against the US dollar in interbank trading on the final day of the business week, continuing a trend of marginal gains observed in recent sessions.

The local currency edged up slightly as the dollar registered a minor decline, reflecting steady movement in the foreign exchange market.

According to market data released on Friday, the US dollar shed 3 paisas in value against the rupee in the interbank market. By the close of trading, the dollar settled at Rs278.92, indicating a small but notable shift in favour of the local currency.

The latest adjustment follows a similar closing rate recorded in the previous session, where the dollar had also ended trading at Rs278.92. The unchanged closing figure, despite intra-day movement, highlights the narrow trading band within which the currency pair has been fluctuating.

Currency dealers noted that such marginal changes are typical in a relatively stable market environment, where supply and demand dynamics remain largely balanced. The interbank market, which serves as a key indicator of official currency valuation, often reflects subtle adjustments rather than sharp swings unless influenced by significant economic developments.

Throughout the week, the rupee has shown signs of resilience, maintaining its position against the dollar with only minor fluctuations. The absence of major volatility suggests a degree of stability in the foreign exchange market, even as global and domestic economic factors continue to play a role in shaping currency trends.
