Punjab is keen to enhance trade and investment in textiles, agriculture, tourism & technology
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has invited the Thai business community to invest in Pakistan.
A dinner was hosted in her honour by Thailand's former prime minister and renowned telecom entrepreneur Thaksin Shinawatra. The event was also attended by Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the youngest former female Prime Minister in Thailand’s history.
Thaksin Shinawatra and his daughter warmly welcomed the Punjab CM and expressed their best wishes and goodwill for former prime minister and PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif. Both former Thai Prime Ministers praised Maryam’s developmental vision, administrative efforts, and welfare initiatives. Thaksin Shinawatra remarked that the public service efforts by her and her father are truly inspiring.
The Punjab CM, in return, lauded Thailand’s leadership for their public service, reforms, and economic development strategies. She noted that the reforms introduced in Thailand have set a new benchmark in strengthening institutional capacity. She emphasized that the friendship between Pakistan and Thailand is rooted in mutual respect, economic cooperation, and cultural harmony.
The CM stated that Punjab is keen to enhance trade and investment in sectors such as textiles, agriculture, tourism, and technology. She said the Thai business community could benefit from the incentives offered by Punjab, especially given its easy access to regional markets.
She also highlighted cultural diplomacy, education, and tourism as effective tools for bringing people closer together, adding that under the "Digital Nation" vision, the Punjab government is equipping youth with skills in modern sectors.
