Auto assemblers Kia, Yamaha in Pakistan go for price hike

Surprising move comes despite better performance rupee against dollar in last few days
KARACHI (Web Desk) – You were wrong if you hoped that the car prices would come down as a result of rupee gaining strength and achieving parity in the US dollar’s interbank and open market rates. Things doesn’t move by book in Pakistan as two leading auto assemblers have decided to increase the prices.
One of them is Lucky Motor Company Limited which represents Kia while the other is Yamaha Motor Pakistan Ltd. Both of them didn’t cite any reason behind the surprising move.
As far as the Kia car models are concerned, the new prices of Sorento 2.4L FWD and 2.4L AWD are Rs10.8 million and Rs11.790m against the previous level of Rs10.4m and Rs11.3m respectively.
Similarly, the price of Sportage Alpha, FWD, AWD and Black Edition has been increased to Rs7.3m, Rs8.19m, Rs8.82m and Rs9.3m from Rs7.05m, Rs7.94m, Rs8.57m and Rs9.05m.
On the other hand, the Stonic EX plus will now be available for Rs6.050m – previously sold for Rs5.930m – while the price of Picanto Automatic Transmission is increased to Rs3.825m, representing a Rs0.2m rise.
Meanwhile, the new prices of various Yamaha models are given as: Yamaha YB125Z (red/black) Rs380,500, YB125Z DX (red, black and grey) Rs408,000, YBR125 (red, blue and black) Rs419,000, YBR125G (black), Rs436,000 and YBR125G (matt dark grey and matt orange) Rs439,000.
Previously, these models were priced at Rs356,000, Rs381,500, Rs391,500, Rs407,000 and Rs410,000 respectively.
