Largest number since COVID-19 indicates aviation sector is close to full recovery, PIA official
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Two more planes have been added to PIA s active fleet in the past 24 hours after which now the number of planes with the national airline has reached over 50 aircraft, Dunya News reported.
New Airbus 320 aircraft which arrived in recent days and has been added to the schedule made its first commercial trip from Islamabad to Karachi as PK 309. This is despite the government s aggressive efforts to advance PIA.
The Boeing 777 aircraft which has been suffering from prolonged grounding for seven months has also entered into operation. The third aircraft will also become operational in the coming weeks. This morning marked the first flight of the Boeing 777 in several months.
The timetable will include 25 aircraft including 14 Airbus and 10 Boeing 777s.
According to a PIA official, this is the largest number of PIA active aircraft since COVID-19 indicating that the aviation sector is close to full recovery.
