Govt may jack up fuel prices

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government is likely to jack up prices of petroleum products from January 16.

In this regard, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has prepared a working paper regarding the prices of petroleum products.

According to the sources, two proposals have been prepared by Ogra for January 16. By increasing the levy, the prices of petroleum products have increased, due to which the price of diesel may increase. The Rs30 per liter levy on diesel can be increased to Rs50.

According to the second proposal, the Ogra could also propose maintaining the prices of petroleum products.

The proposals will be sent to the government tomorrow and the final decision regarding the prices will be taken by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in consultation with the prime minister.

It should be noted that the price of crude oil in the international market is $97 per barrel.
