Prices drop, Despite 101 truck points citizens facing difficulties due to long queues to buy flour
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Measures taken by the food department to deal with the flour crisis could not improve as the shortage of flour at many stores prevails.
According to the details, flour crisis continues to be a bitter test of the people because the Food Department could not improve the flour supply in the city. The citizens are facing severe difficulties due to the shortage at many stores.
District administration has provided 70,000 bags of 10 kg flour at 101 truck points but it has become an issue of difficulty for the citizens who have to keep standing in long queues to purchase flour.
Citizens have said that availability of flour at higher rates than fixed is also going to be rare because of shortage. They asked what should the poor feed to their children and that the government was unable to control the prices.
Dunya News has obtained a copy of the data releasing wheat quota to flour mills. According to the data, 6,055 metric tons of wheat quota has been issued to 91 registered flour mills in Lahore while 369,000 bags of 10 kg flour have been delivered to 2,000 dealers.
After the release of wheat by the provincial government, the prices of wheat in the open market have started decreasing. Wheat price has decreased by Rs100 to reach at Rs4100 per 40 kilograms while the official price is set at Rs2300 per 40 kg.
Similarly, the price of loose flour has also been reduced from Rs80 to Rs75 per kg while the official price is fixed at Rs64 per kg. 15 kg flour bag has been reduced from Rs2100 to Rs1800 while the official price has been kept at Rs1300.
Deputy Director Food Mrs Naeem Afzal has said that wheat and flour were available in abundance in the market. She added that the citizens should contact the toll-free number of the district administration if they face issues in flour availability.
