Electricity price hike: K-electric raises electricity prices by Rs1.7 per unit
KARACHI (Dunya News) - K-electric has announced to raise electricity prices by Rs1.7 per unit following the fuel adjustment prices for the month of October 2021.
National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) announced to increase the electricity prices for the K-electric customers.
It is pertinent to mention here that the announcement has been made pertaining to the fuel adjustment prices for the month of October 2021.
Following the announcement, the customers will have to bear the extra expenses of more than one billion while the life-line user will be exempted from its implementation.
Earlier on Monday, the power tariff for the people of Karachi was likely to increase more than Rs 4.80 per unit in the first quarter of the current year, while the power tariff was likely to decrease by 75 paisa per unit under monthly fuel adjustment in November is likely to decrease.
NEPRA had heard two different pleas to increase the price of electricity by Rs5.50 in the first quarter of the current financial year July to September and November 2021 under fuel adjustment.
K-Electric filed a plea for an increase of Rs 5.18 per unit in electricity price in the quarterly adjustment, but NEPRA officials said that K-Electric’s quarterly adjustment would increase the price of electricity by Rs 4.80 per unit.
The quarterly adjustment consists of Rs 4.30 capacity charges, while according to NEPRA data, the quarterly adjustment will affect consumers. Likewise, the K-Electric had requested an increase of 32 paisa per unit in electricity price in the context of November s monthly fuel adjustment.
