Number of taxpayers increase in current fiscal year: FBR
The authorities anticipate the number to increase further till the end of FY2018-19.
(Web Desk) - The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has revealed that more than 100,000 new taxpayers have been added to the taxpayers’ list during the current fiscal year.
According to the data provided by the FBR, 1.630 million tax returns have been filed in the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2018-19 as compared to 1.179 million tax returns in the same period of FY2017-18.
However, the FBR further mentioned that the number of taxpayers is still very low as compared to the total population of the country.
Certain effective measures have been formulated and are being implemented to increase the number of taxpayers in the country.
Concerned authorities further stated that the new policies of the federal government are expected to add more taxpayers under the tax net and expressed hope that the number would increase by the end of the current fiscal year.
