ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday constituted a four-member committee to probe into inflated gas bills.

The committee headed by Additional Secretary Petroleum Sher Afghan Khan will present its recommendations after reviewing the 30-day billing process.

No time frame has been given to the committee.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan while taking notice of hike in gas bills, had directed Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Ghulam Sarwar Khan to conduct an inquiry into the matter.

The prime minister said that putting extra burden of gas prices on the masses was unjustified.

The 10 percent increase in gas price was for the consumers using less than 300 mmcfd (million cubic feet per day), which constituted 70 per cent of the total consumers, while higher raise was for the rich people, consuming high volume of gas.
