WAPDA recommends hike in electricity tariff

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has recommended a hike in electricity tariff. The federal institute owes over Rs 59 billion in dues which it aims to collect from the public.
WAPDA sent a summary of recommendations to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) about electricity price hike from Rs 1.88 to Rs 3.61 per unit.
The power authority is under the debt of provinces and Indus River System Authority (IRSA). WAPDA owes about Rs 33 billion to these entities.
On the other hand, NEPRA has 14 days of consultation on the request.
