Prices of medicine, edibles rise by 3.9 pc in eight months
Pulses, chicken, medicine, other edible items saw an inflation of 3.9% in just eight months
KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Prices of medicine and edible items have risen by 3.9% during the months of July and February. The prices of medicine and edibles like pulses, chicken, have seen a big hike, reported Dunya News.
According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), chana pulse price rose by 43%, moong pulse by 35%, gram flour by 32% and tomato by 25% while during the same time period, the prices of medicines rose by 21%.
PBS said that February 2017 saw 0.28% more inflation than the month of January while the inflation rate remained 3.9% from July to February.
PBS chief Asif Bajwa says that the prices have seen a rise due to the rise in price of crude oil in the international market and more inflation is expected in the near future.
