Summary Sugar price stands at USD 454 per tonne in the international market
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Owners of different sugar mills have requested the government to extend export date till June 30, Dunya News reported Friday.
The government had instructed the mills to export around five lac tonne sugar by March 31 however, agreements worth 253,000 tonne have been made so far.
Sugar price stands at USD 454 per tonne in the international market which is why the government is paying mills Rs 13 for per Kilogram exported. The owners have demanded the government to extend the date.
It should be mentioned here that sugarcane farmers are yet to be paid by the mills. The payments will be made after hitting the highest export figure possible.
