LONDON (AFP) - Europe s main stock markets fell at the start of trading on Tuesday, mirroring a pull-back in Asia following a global rally that kicked off the week.

London s FTSE 100 benchmark index dropped 0.6 percent to 6,000.3 points.

In the eurozone, Frankfurt s DAX 30 index slid 0.7 percent to 9,503.1 points and the Paris CAC 40 shed 0.6 percent to 4,272.2 compared with Monday s close.

World stocks had surged on Monday behind strengthening oil prices, even as worries of a potential British exit from the European Union reverberated through the foreign exchange market, sinking the pound.

On Tuesday, Asia s share rally stalled with markets battling a fresh fall in the price of oil and fears for the Chinese economy.
