Summary Textile mills bought around 80.32 lac bales in the season
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Cotton imports have increased by 190 percent in the first seven months of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-16, Dunya News reported Tuesday.
Weather changes have severely affected cotton yields in the ongoing season. Owing to lower production, imports have surged by massive 190 percent standing at USD 41.27 crore.
In the same period of the last fiscal year, cotton imports stood at USD 14 crore.
According to Cotton Ginners Association, 96 lac bales have been produced in this season and the total is around 31 percent lesser than the last year.
Textile mills bought around 80.32 lac bales while 3.58 lac bales were given to the exporters.
