ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senator Saleem Mandviwalla has said that payment of Rs 480 billion to power houses by Finance Ministry in 2013 has caused an irreversible loss, Dunya News reported Friday.

According to a notification issued today, Mandviwalla has drawn parallel of illegal circular debt payment to private electricity houses with corruption.

The senator has written a letter to Public Accounts Committee’s Chairman Khursheed Shah to call a joint session of Senate’s standing committee for Finance and public accounts representatives. A meeting of the two entities has been demanded to probe the matter.

He further said that according to a report issued by office of the Auditor General of Pakistan, Finance Ministry issued Rs 480 billion on emergency basis two days before fiscal year (FY) 2013-13 ended.
