Summary Ishaq Dar using ECC for political purpose, alleges Mandviwala
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Senator Saleem Mandviwala on Friday has alleged the government of ‘rewarding’ sugar mafia with provision of subsidy.
The chairman of economic coordination committee for finance criticised the government.
He alleged the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar of using Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) for political purposes. Dar’s decision to give sugar mills subsidy worth Rs 7 billion is to ‘reward’ Punjab mills’ owners, he added.
“How the Finance Minister would know which mill has paid Rs 180 per 40 Kilogram (Kg) of sugarcane to the farmers?” He asked.
On one hand the government pocketed funds from the people and distributed among their ‘favourites’ and on the other, sugar price has been hiked, he added.
