SHANGHAI (AFP) - Chinese shares were higher at midday on Friday, despite data showing that manufacturing activity tumbled to a 15-month low in July, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index rose 1.07 percent, or 44.02 points, to 4,167.94.
The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China s second exchange, gained 1.46 percent, or 34.24 points, to 2,386.89.
