SHANGHAI (AFP) - Chinese shares were slightly lower in morning trade Wednesday after data showed inflation eased in June from the previous month, dealers said.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.17 percent, or 3.47 points, to 2,060.55.

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China s second exchange, edged down 0.08 percent, or 0.88 points, to 1,119.50.

China s annual inflation slowed to 2.3 percent in June from a four-month high of 2.5 percent in May, the National Bureau of Statistics said in a statement.
