The government of Pakistan has purchased 75,000 tons sugar from Dubai to overcome the current sugar crisis in the country. Spokesman of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan Khizar Hayat said that the sugar was bought from Al-Khaleej Sugar Company of Dubai at $638 per ton in which the freight charges were included. The sugar would reach Pakistan during the first week of October, he said. According to the spokesman, earlier, the tenders were issued for the import of 1 lac 25 thousand ton sugar. And 80,000 ton sugar has reached in the country while remaining 25,000 ton sugar would reach in 10 to 15 days.
