E-banking volume reaches at Rs 39 billion: State Bank

The volume of e-banking reached at Rs 39 billion with an addition of 7.8 percent during the last three months of the previous financial year. According to the State Bank of Pakistan e-banking and branchless banking were gaining popularity in the country. During the fist three months of 2008-09, the volume of e-banking reached US$44.5 million while the investment reached at 39 billion. The number of ATMs has reached 3,990 in the country. By the last three months of 2008-09, the ATMs were used 29.2 million times. Rs 189 billion were taken out through ATM. During the three months the number of internet transaction remained 0.6 million while a business of RS 22.20 was made.
