RAWALPINDI (Dunya News): A female television anchor, Rabia Ahsan, was found dead at her residence in Gulshanabad, near Adiala Road, Rawalpindi, on Sunday, prompting police to launch an investigation.
According to rescue officials, the deceased was identified as Rabia Ahsan, who worked as an anchor for a television channel.
Police confirmed that her husband, Ahsan, had been taken into custody for questioning as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding her death.
According to police sources, the husband told investigators in his initial statement that a gun went off accidentally and the bullet struck Rabia.
Police sources also said that the couple had no reported marital disputes. Rabia's mother and sisters were reportedly present at the house when the incident occurred.
Investigators are looking into the circumstances of the shooting to establish how the woman sustained the fatal gunshot wound.
The police have not yet announced a final conclusion regarding the incident. Further investigation is underway.
