LAHORE (Muhammad Ashfaq) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sanam Javed, who is currently incarcerated at Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore, has approached a family court seeking dissolution of her marriage through khula.

The court has admitted her petition for hearing and issued a notice to her husband, Ateeq, directing him to appear on November 25.

The petition, filed through Barrister Khadija Siddiqui, states that differences and misunderstandings arose between the couple due to a lack of mental compatibility, gradually worsening over time and creating discord in their marital relationship.

According to the petition, the couple married on September 22, 2009, in accordance with Islamic law and have two children from the marriage.

Sanam Javed Khan maintained that she has developed intense feelings of hatred towards her husband, making it impossible for her to continue living with him as his wife.

The petition further states that she is no longer in a position to continue the marital relationship while remaining within the limits prescribed by Allah Almighty.

She has therefore requested the court to grant a decree of khula and dissolve the marriage.
