Taliban regime urged to stop infiltration from Afghanistan

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry says Afghanistan should eliminate terrorist hideouts instead of levelling baseless allegations against Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has rejected allegations levelled by Afghan regime against Pakistan, urging Afghan Taliban to take effective action against terrorist hideouts and prevent cross-border infiltration.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, the federal minister said there was no truth to the allegations against Pakistan and called on the Afghan interim government to ensure that its territory was not used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.

Dr Chaudhry said Pakistan had consistently advocated peace and stability in the region. However, he added, Pakistan had always responded to aggression whenever it was imposed on the country.

He maintained that Pakistan's armed forces remained fully prepared to respond to any form of aggression.

The minister said Pakistan had provided Afghanistan with concrete evidence of cross-border infiltration and terrorism.

According to him, the evidence was also presented to Afghan representatives during talks held in Istanbul and Doha.

He said Pakistan had made efforts to resolve the issue through negotiations, but the Afghan interim government had failed to take effective measures to stop infiltration into Pakistan.

Dr Chaudhry further stated that Pakistan reserved the right to take all necessary measures if Afghan soil continued to be used for terrorist activities against the country.

He urged Afghanistan to fulfil its responsibilities by taking decisive action against terrorist elements and preventing cross-border infiltration, stressing the need for effective measures to promote regional peace and security.
