Amir Muqam says Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ready for political change

Updated on:

Federal Minister Amir Muqam claims Khyber Pakhtunkhwa residents have rejected PTI’s protest politics, pledging public welfare measures and accountability for alleged corruption.

BISHAM (Dunya News)  – Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Amir Muqam has claimed that people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rejected what he described as politics of confrontation, predicting that the province would witness a change soon.

Addressing a public gathering in Bisham on Sunday, Muqam said the province was moving beyond what he called an era of corruption and mismanagement under the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

He claimed that residents had welcomed the end of PTI’s 13-year rule in the province and were relieved at what he described as an end to its governance.

Thanking supporters for attending the gathering, Muqam said the large turnout demonstrated public enthusiasm. He challenged critics who, he alleged, had been spreading propaganda on YouTube to assess the response at the rally.

The federal minister also claimed that people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had rejected PTI’s protest movement and criticised the former provincial government over its performance.

Muqam said he had observed a significant presence of young people at the gathering, estimating that they accounted for around 80% of the participants.

He further alleged that negotiations with PTI had continued for 12 hours but failed to produce a meaningful agenda for public welfare. He accused the former chief minister of making misleading statements during the discussions.

According to Muqam, residents had become increasingly aware of what he described as the opposition party’s political agenda. He also claimed that celebrations had taken place in some areas following the end of the previous provincial administration.

The minister asserted that PTI’s political influence in the province had been weakened, adding that his government would seek accountability for every rupee allegedly misappropriated during the previous administration.

However, he said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) did not believe in political victimisation or a politics of revenge.

Muqam said the government’s priority was to address public grievances, overcome longstanding deprivations and improve living conditions across the province.

He added that the government would continue its public service agenda under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and expressed confidence that residents would see changes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the coming period.

The minister’s remarks come amid continuing political differences between the PML-N-led federal government and PTI over governance, political protests and accountability.
