Summary More than 1,000 traffic wardens will be deployed around Gaddafi Stadium, along team routes and on alternative roads
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Lahore traffic police have issued a traffic management plan ahead of the Pakistan-England one-day international (ODI), aiming to facilitate spectators and ensure smooth traffic flow.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said two senior superintendents of police (SSPs), seven deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and 90 inspectors would perform duties during the match.
More than 1,000 traffic wardens will be deployed around Gaddafi Stadium, along team routes and on alternative roads. To prevent illegal parking, 10 forklifts and five breakdown vehicles will also be on duty.
Four parking areas have been designated to facilitate cricket fans and ensure convenient access to the stadium.
According to the CTO, Mall Road, Canal Road, Jail Road and Main Boulevard Gulberg will remain open to traffic. No road will be permanently closed during the match. However, roads may be temporarily blocked for a few moments during team movements, with diversions reopened as soon as the teams pass.
Spectators travelling from Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Ferozepur Road can park at Government College for Boys via Ferozepur Road. Those arriving from Thokar, Johar Town and Kahna can access the same parking facility via Kalma Chowk and Centre Point.
Fans coming from the cantonment and Defence areas can park at CBD Sunfort Hotel and Liberty Market.
The traffic police will provide updates on changing road conditions through the Rasta app and Rasta FM 88.6.
Shirazi said citizens could call helpline 15 for further guidance and assistance. He advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel towards Gaddafi Stadium during team movements and to follow traffic personnel’s instructions regarding parking and stadium access.
He also urged commuters to stay informed about traffic conditions through the Rasta app and Rasta FM 88.6.
