KP announces millions in additional aid for police martyrs, injured personnel

Updated on:

Compensation for police martyrs from constable to inspector rank has been increased from Rs11 million to Rs17 million

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced a substantial increase in the compensation package for police personnel killed or injured in the line of duty, raising financial assistance across different ranks.

Under the revised package, compensation for police martyrs from constable to inspector rank has been increased from Rs11 million to Rs17 million, Kundi said.

The compensation for martyrs holding the ranks of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and assistant superintendent of police (ASP) has been raised from Rs16 million to Rs25 million.

For police personnel in grades 18 and 19, the compensation has been fixed at Rs30 million, while families of those in grade 20 and above will receive Rs35 million, the governor said.

The relief package also provides greater financial support to personnel injured while on duty. Assistance for injured officers and personnel has been increased from Rs100,000 to Rs1.5 million.

In cases of permanent disability sustained during duty, the government has approved compensation of Rs5 million, Kundi added.

The package also revises financial assistance for the families of police martyrs in place of residential plots. Families of personnel from constable to inspector rank will receive Rs18 million instead of a five-marla plot.

Similarly, families of police martyrs in grade 20 and above will receive Rs70 million in lieu of a plot, according to the governor.

Kundi further announced that financial assistance of Rs3 million would be provided in the event of the death of a police personnel’s parents or siblings.
