PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – The final batch of 27 new buses purchased for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service arrived at the Chamkani depot on Friday morning, completing the delivery of all 52 buses acquired for the project.
According to TransPeshawar, 25 new buses had arrived in Peshawar last month, while the arrival of another 27 has now completed the delivery of the entire fleet. Officials said the addition of the new buses has increased the total number of buses in the Peshawar BRT fleet to 296.
The expanded fleet is expected to improve travel facilities for passengers and make the existing service more efficient.
TransPeshawar said the arrival of the buses would also facilitate the launch of new BRT routes, helping meet the growing transportation needs of passengers. Meanwhile, TransPeshawar has described videos and claims circulating on social media regarding the movement of the new buses as misleading.
According to the authority, the movement of the buses was portrayed on social media as if they were being transferred out of Peshawar, whereas they were actually being transported to the city.
TransPeshawar said the arrival of all 52 new buses had clarified the facts behind the claims circulating on social media. Officials described the completion of the delivery as an important step towards improving BRT services, expanding the bus fleet and facilitating the introduction of new routes in the future.
