KARACHI (Dunya News) - Renowned Pakistani actor Faisal Qureshi has weighed in on the Indian government’s reported attempts to ban Pakistani dramas, suggesting that the growing popularity of Pakistani television content has become a source of concern for Indian authorities.
Speaking on a podcast, the actor said Pakistani dramas have helped Indian audiences discover a more relatable side of Pakistan, allowing them to see that Pakistanis are ordinary, educated people whose lives and experiences are not so different from their own.
According to Faisal, this growing cultural connection may be one of the reasons behind efforts to restrict Pakistani dramas in India.
The actor also highlighted the continued popularity of Pakistani television among Indian viewers, noting that audiences across the border remain deeply interested in some of Pakistan’s most celebrated serials.

He added that even recently released Pakistani dramas have been receiving a positive response from Indian audiences.
Discussing the impact of the reported ban, Faisal claimed that Indian viewers began turning to VPNs to continue watching Pakistani content despite the restrictions.
He suggested that the audience’s determination to access these dramas ultimately put pressure on the Indian government to reconsider its decision.
Emphasising the broader significance of Pakistani entertainment, Faisal said the country’s dramas play an important role in presenting a positive image of Pakistan to the world.
