WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - US President Donald Trump has said Iran will soon give in, after which oil prices are expected to decline.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said a record volume of oil had been transported through the Strait of Hormuz the previous night.
The US president also claimed that oil prices in the United States remain lower than they were during the administration of former President Joe Biden.
Trump said US negotiators were expected to hold further talks with Iran this week.
According to the president, Tehran wants to reach a deal, but the conditions put forward by Iran are unacceptable to Washington.
“We expect more talks this week,” Trump said, adding that while Iran wants an agreement, its terms cannot be accepted by the United States.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran is equally prepared for negotiations and confrontation, but the decision now rests with the United States.
In an interview with a US news channel, Araghchi said Tehran was surprised by Washington’s rejection of its proposal but had not abandoned the path of diplomacy.
The foreign minister said Iran was prepared to face any new aggression, even if it resulted in a devastating war, while remaining ready to pursue diplomacy. “The decision is now with the US president,” he said.
He said Iran was prepared to reopen the strategic waterway under an agreement aimed at ending the conflict, but in return, Tehran wanted the release of its frozen assets and funds.
