KARACHI (Dunya News) - Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has strongly reacted to a recent press conference by MQM leaders, describing the language used by the party’s leadership as “intolerable.”
In a statement, Memon alleged that the MQM was seeking to create unrest and revive what he described as the politics of the 1990s.
He said MQM leaders Mustafa Kamal and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui were pursuing a similar political path.
Memon further accused the MQM of having contributed to extortion, targeted killings, kidnappings for ransom and arson in Karachi during the 1990s.
He said the Sindh Assembly had already expressed its position on the issue of new provinces through a resolution.
The senior minister also alleged that the MQM was attempting to create division and hatred on linguistic grounds by provoking unrest.
He maintained that a majority of Urdu-speaking people in Sindh consider themselves Sindhis and accused the party of once again trying to create divisions among communities.
Memon said the Sindh government would oppose what he described as attempts to destabilize the province and create conflict.
