TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday met Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran.
Naqvi, who is currently in Iran on an official visit, discussed with the Iranian president the regional situation and ways to strengthen cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
During the meeting, President Pezeshkian said that pressure from the United States had brought Muslim countries closer to one another. He emphasized that Iran and Pakistan could meet some of their respective needs by making greater use of the region's economic and strategic potential.
Pezeshkian said Pakistan was committed to expanding mutual cooperation with Iran in a range of areas, including trade, economy, politics, culture and science.
Earlier, Naqvi visited Iran's Ministry of Interior, where he held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. The discussions covered bilateral relations, the latest regional developments and progress on ongoing cooperation between the two countries across various sectors.
Momeni expressed appreciation for the efforts of Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir toward promoting regional peace and stability. He acknowledged Pakistan's continued efforts for peace in the region and described his recent visit to Pakistan as highly productive.
Naqvi said Pakistan remained committed to strengthening ties with Iran and expressed confidence that bilateral relations would be further expanded in the future.
