ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan on Tuesday strongly condemned Houthi attacks on civilian and economic targets in Saudi Arabia, describing them as a violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and a threat to regional peace and stability.
In a statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson said Pakistan condemned the attacks “in the strongest possible terms”.
The spokesperson said such attacks constituted a clear violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and posed a serious threat to peace and stability across the region.
Pakistan also warned that continued attacks could undermine efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful and sustainable settlement of the conflict in Yemen.
Islamabad reaffirmed its “unwavering support” for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and security of Saudi Arabia and expressed complete solidarity with the Saudi government and people.
The Foreign Office also expressed its best wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attacks.
“Pakistan fully supports Saudi Arabia’s legitimate right to self-defence in accordance with the UN Charter and international law,” the spokesperson said.
The statement comes after Houthi missile and drone attacks targeted locations in Saudi Arabia, including civilian and economic facilities, causing injuries and raising concerns about a renewed escalation in the region.
Pakistan said it would continue making all possible efforts to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.
Islamabad has traditionally maintained close political, economic and strategic relations with Riyadh, and the latest statement underscores Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s security while also stressing the need for a peaceful resolution of the Yemen conflict.
