ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Consumers in Pakistan are facing a fresh inflationary blow as petroleum product prices have been increased sharply, pushing the price of petrol to Rs358.77 per litre.
The latest increase comes amid daily revisions in fuel prices and is expected to add further pressure to household budgets.
According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been increased by Rs12.90 per litre, while diesel has become Rs3.72 per litre more expensive.
Following the revision, petrol will now be available at Rs358.77 per litre, while the new price of diesel has been set at Rs381.77 per litre.
The revised prices will come into effect from midnight and will remain applicable for one day, through September 8, according to the notification.
The latest adjustment comes as the Ministry of Petroleum continues to revise petroleum product prices on a daily basis. The frequent changes are being closely watched by consumers and businesses because fluctuations in fuel prices can have a direct impact on transportation and the cost of goods.
Petrol and diesel remain key components of the country's transport and logistics network, meaning any significant increase in their prices can quickly affect operating costs for businesses and transport providers.
