Summary Pakistan Stock Exchange opened the week under heavy selling pressure, with the KSE-100 Index losing 1,692 points to close at 173,636.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a sharp downturn on Monday as persistent selling pressure dragged the benchmark KSE-100 Index below the 174,000-point level.
The market remained under pressure from the start of trading on the first session of the business week, with the negative trend continuing until the closing bell.
The KSE-100 Index fell by 1,692 points to settle at 173,636 points, reflecting a significant decline in investor sentiment during the session.
The benchmark had closed at 175,328 points on the final trading day of the previous week.
Monday’s decline effectively wiped out the index’s recent gains and pushed the market back below the psychologically important 174,000-point mark.
Investors remained cautious throughout the session, while sustained selling prevented the benchmark from staging a meaningful recovery before the close.
The latest performance marked a weak start to the new trading week after the stock market had ended the previous week at 175,328 points.
