ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has claimed that, according to his information, the plan to transfer PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital was changed at the last moment.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar said that had the plan not been changed, “we would have come quite far” in arranging Imran Khan’s transfer.
He said their efforts had been undermined, adding that it would have been much better if Imran Khan had received treatment at Shifa International Hospital. However, he said he was not disappointed and would make efforts again, stressing that “contacts should never be abandoned.”
Barrister Gohar said there should be no politics or rhetoric surrounding Imran Khan’s health and that the Supreme Court’s orders should have been implemented.
He said Imran Khan was taken to PIMS instead of Shifa, but the treatment required by him was not provided there. He added that the Supreme Court’s order could still be implemented if the authorities were willing to listen.
The PTI chairman said their petition had been numbered in the Supreme Court and that they had also requested an early hearing.
Barrister Gohar said the united opposition would now adopt a joint strategy in the National Assembly and Senate, highlighting public issues and holding the government accountable.
He clarified that the PTI had neither violated the Supreme Court’s orders nor claimed that it had done so. He said one of Imran Khan’s sisters had spoken about his transfer to PIMS.
He said the contempt of court petition filed by the PTI sought implementation of the Supreme Court’s order and constituted civil contempt proceedings.
Barrister Gohar said Noorina Niazi had been pleased with the meeting with Imran Khan held last Tuesday, adding that Imran Khan’s health and security remained their priority.
He further said the unity of opposition parties was an essential need of the hour.
