(Web Desk) - The funeral prayer of five-year-old Ayat Noor, who went missing in Haripur and was later found dead, was offered at the Khad Factory ground on Monday, with thousands of people attending the funeral.
Ayat had gone out to play from her home 16 days ago and subsequently disappeared. Her body was recovered from a well 15 days after she went missing, leaving the city in mourning.
According to police, CCTV footage helped investigators identify five suspects allegedly involved in the girl’s abduction. Three suspects have been arrested, while police teams are searching for the remaining two.
Police said the three arrested suspects allegedly confessed before a magistrate that they had assaulted the child and later threw her into the well.
Several police teams have been conducting search operations at different locations over the past five days as the investigation continues.
The Haripur District Bar has also announced a day of mourning over the tragic incident.
The death of the child has triggered grief and anger among residents, with a large number of people attending her funeral and calling for justice.
