RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - The murder case of popular TikToker Shamsu Bibi, also known as Ayesha Gulamna, has taken a major turn, with Rawalpindi police arresting five suspects, including the victim’s father and biological brother.
SSP Operations Tariq Mehboob said during a press conference that the arrested suspects were identified as the victim’s father Fazal, brother Bashir, paternal cousin Ehsan, father’s uncle Rozi Khan and the latter’s son Yasin.
Police said Ayesha Gulamna was allegedly killed at the behest of her father and brother, who acted in coordination with other accomplices.
SSP Operations said several special teams were formed on the instructions of CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera to investigate the case, with senior officers being kept informed of developments. Police reviewed footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras and also used human intelligence and other investigative sources.
As the investigation expanded, police questioned the victim’s father and brother. According to police, the suspects allegedly disclosed their involvement in arranging Ayesha’s murder with the help of other accomplices. Investigators also alleged that the suspects attempted to stage a false scenario after the killing to mislead law enforcement.
Officials said initial investigations indicated that the murder was allegedly committed in the name of honour. They added that further significant revelations were expected as the investigation progressed.
Taxila police arrested all five suspects on the basis of evidence collected during the investigation, while efforts to determine the involvement of additional individuals were continuing.
SSP Tariq Mehboob said a charge sheet would be submitted against the suspects on the basis of solid evidence and that legal proceedings would be completed to ensure they face punishment under the law.
