LAHORE (Dunya News) - Former prime minister and PML-N President Nawaz Sharif visited the Hazrat Ali Hajveri Underpass at Bhati Gate following its completion.
After his visit, the underpass was opened to general traffic.
Traffic is currently flowing through the Hazrat Ali Hajveri Underpass, which has been constructed at a cost of Rs1 billion.
The three-lane underpass is 400 metres long and has been developed as part of efforts to improve traffic management around Bhati Gate.
The new underpass will provide signal-free access for traffic travelling from Azadi Chowk towards Bhati Chowk and onward to Kachehri and Mall Road, helping improve traffic flow in the area.
The project is the first underpass constructed during Maryam Nawaz's tenure.

A drainage system has also been installed to facilitate the disposal of rainwater and help prevent water accumulation.
The underpass has been designed in a curved shape, with the speed limit set at 30 kilometres per hour.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced that Basant 2027 will be celebrated in Lahore from March 12 to 14.
According to Maryam Nawaz, following the success of Basant 2026, Lahore will once again become a hub of colours, culture and celebrations in March 2027.
She said music, cultural activities and other events would be organised during the three-day festival.
Maryam Nawaz also invited overseas Pakistanis and international visitors to attend Basant Lahore 2027, asking them to save March 12, 13 and 14 on their calendars.
