Father eyes world record after running mile with daughter in stroller

Updated on:

The current record is held by Silas Frantz, who completed a mile in 4 minutes and 26.29 seconds in June 2025

(Web Desk) - A former college track athlete in the United States has made headlines after completing a one-mile race in just 4 minutes and 17 seconds while pushing his young daughter in a stroller.

Stephen Bibelhousen, a former Miami University runner, took part in the Guardian Mile race in Cleveland, Ohio, with his daughter Blake riding in the stroller. He covered the course across Hope Memorial Bridge in 4:17.

If Guinness World Records officially verifies the performance, Bibelhousen could claim the record for the fastest one-mile run while pushing a stroller.

The current record is held by Silas Frantz, who completed a mile in 4 minutes and 26.29 seconds in June 2025. Bibelhousen’s reported time is therefore nearly nine seconds faster.

Bibelhousen said setting a world record was not initially his goal. He had aimed to break the course record of 4:44 and finish the mile in under 4:30.

He added that with additional training, he believes he can improve his time further.

His 4:17 performance will now have to undergo official verification before he can be recognised as the new world record holder.
