MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Faisal Mumtaz Rathore has won the LA-17 Haveli constituency in the third phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir general elections 2026.

According to the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Election Commission, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore secured 33,872 votes to defeat his closest rival, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Mohsin Aziz, who received 32,353 votes. Khawaja Tariq Saeed secured 12,338 votes.

The Election Commission formally issued the official result along with Form 27, confirming Rathore’s victory.

PPP workers and supporters celebrated the result in Haveli and chanted slogans in favour of the successful candidate, with the victory marking an important political gain for the party in the constituency.

Earlier, on the directives of AJK Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, all polling bags from the Haveli constituency were transported to the Election Commission’s central office in Muzaffarabad under tight security on Wednesday night.

It remained unclear, however, whether the LA-17 result was compiled on the basis of the initial vote count or a recount.

According to results available so far, PML-N has secured 24 seats in the 53-member AJK Legislative Assembly, while PPP has won 11 seats.
