BAHAWALPUR (Dunya News) - The Punjab government has launched the land distribution process under its "Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar" programme, offering agricultural land on lease to eligible families in the Cholistan region.
According to the Bahawalpur commissioner, 83,000 acres of land—the largest allocation under the programme—will be distributed among residents of Cholistan in Bahawalpur, with more than 16,000 beneficiaries set to receive five acres each.
During a ceremony, allotment letters for five-acre agricultural plots were handed over to 25 successful applicants. The Cholistan Development Authority said it received 52,158 applications for the programme.

Following scrutiny, 27,647 applications were approved, while 10,290 eligible Cholistan families are being allotted land in the first phase.
Officials said the Punjab government, in collaboration with the Agriculture Department, will also provide financial assistance worth Rs4.25 billion to beneficiaries.
Under the scheme, farmers will receive Rs50,000 per acre to help prepare the land, begin cultivation and support other agricultural activities.
