ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – An important bilateral meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is underway at Qasr al-Safa in Makkah amid ongoing regional tensions.
Accompanying the prime minister in the meeting are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Army Chief and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
Earlier, the crown prince welcomed PM Shehbaz Sharif when he arrived at the Qasr al-Safa.
A day earlier, the premier along with the delegation arrived in Saudi Arabia.
According to the foreign office, discussions between the two sides would focus on consolidating the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations as well as exchange of views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
The visit marks Pakistan’s longstanding partnership with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia anchored in decades of mutual trust, cooperation and brotherhood. Although taking place against the backdrop of heightened tensions in the Gulf, the visit carries significance beyond the immediate crises and short-term considerations. It will further strengthen bilateral relations, deepen strategic cooperation, enhance coordination on regional and international issues of mutual interest, and reinforce multilateral cooperation.
