ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) who recently returned after completing training courses in China and Türkiye.
During the meeting, the officers briefed the minister on modern policing practices, surveillance systems, the use of advanced technology and equipment, and law and order management observed during their training. They described the overseas training programmes as a valuable experience for enhancing their professional skills.
Mohsin Naqvi announced that foreign training programmes would become a permanent part of the professional development of police officers. He also said a pilot project would be launched to establish a China-style law enforcement investigation center in Islamabad, where detention, investigation and summary trials would be conducted under one roof.
He said the center would enable the swift and effective disposal of minor criminal cases, adding that successful international policing models would be adopted to strengthen Pakistan's policing system.
The interior minister said the use of advanced technology and surveillance systems would significantly expand monitoring capabilities. He added that the Interior Ministry's aviation wing would be equipped with modern drones to improve crime prevention and surveillance, while specialized investigation rooms would be established at the National Police Academy.
Naqvi said greater emphasis would be placed on specialized investigation training to meet the needs of modern policing. Interrogation would be introduced as a specialized subject, with modern techniques based on models from developed countries incorporated into training. He also announced plans to introduce new police uniforms designed to better meet operational requirements.
The commandant of the National Police Academy, the director general of the Federal Investigation Agency, and other senior officials also attended the meeting.
