ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Adviser to Prime Minister and Senator Rana Sanaullah has said the country has a constitutional democratic system, not a hybrid one.
Speaking on a private TV programme, Rana Sanaullah said Mohsin Naqvi's statement that the 'system has collapsed' is meaningless and has no clear context.
He said the parliamentary democratic system in Pakistan is functioning according to the Constitution. The federation, judiciary and administration are all performing their responsibilities under the 1973 Constitution, so it is not true to talk about the system’s failure.
The PM’s adviser said that if new administrative units or provinces are needed, they will also be formed under constitutional procedures.
Rana Sanaullah said that there can be discussions on an empowered local government system and administrative reforms, but there is no question of taking any action outside the Constitution. He clarified that the country does not have a hybrid system but a constitutional democratic system.
He said Pakistan has gained respect at the global level due to the mutual cooperation and respect between the political and military leadership.
According to him, successful measures against terrorism and victory in war against India are the result of this national unity.
He described Field Marshal Asim Munir as a national hero and said that he has raised the prestige of the country.
Describing the elections in Azad Kashmir as transparent, he said that there was a 53 percent turnout in Mirpur, while the people also participated in large numbers in Muzaffarabad.
He added that some elements wanted to obstruct the elections, however, due to the full participation of the people, these efforts failed and the Indian agenda was also defeated.
