Pakistan Navy promotes four commodores to rank of rear admiral

Pakistan Navy has promoted four commodores to rear admiral, recognising their distinguished service, command experience and professional achievements.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Pakistan Navy has promoted Commodore Tasawur Iqbal, Commodore Muhammad Umair, Commodore Shahid Wasif and Commodore Rao Ahmad Imran Anwar to the rank of Rear Admiral.

According to a Pakistan Navy spokesperson, Rear Admiral Tasawur Iqbal was commissioned in the Operations Branch in 1995. A graduate of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore, the National Defence University, Islamabad, and the Inter Services Staff Course in France, he has held several command and staff appointments, including Commanding Officer of PNS Alamgir, Commander 25th Destroyer Squadron, Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy and Senior Pakistan Navy Officer in Riyadh. He is currently serving as Commander West and has been awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair joined the Operations Branch in 1996. He graduated from Pakistan Navy War College and the National Defence University, and completed the Communication Command Course in China and the Naval Staff College Course in the United States. His command appointments include PNS Quwwat, PNS Tariq, PNS Tabuk and Commander 14th Destroyer Squadron. He also served as Deputy Director Naval Operational Plans (Strategy) at Naval Headquarters and is currently Commandant of the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi. He is a recipient of the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Rear Admiral Shahid Wasif was commissioned in 1996 and is a graduate of Pakistan Navy War College and the National Defence University. He completed the Advanced Command and Staff Course in the United Kingdom, earned a Master's degree in Defence Studies from King's College London, attended the Defence and Strategic Studies Course in Australia, and obtained a Master's degree in International Relations from Deakin University. His appointments include Commanding Officer of PNS Saif, Deputy Director Naval Operational Plans (Strategy), Assistant Naval Secretary (Operations), Director Human Resources and Principal Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff. He is currently serving as Commander 25th Destroyer Squadron and has also been awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military).

Rear Admiral Rao Ahmad Imran Anwar joined the Operations Branch in 1996. He graduated from Pakistan Navy War College, the National Defence University and the Advanced Command and Staff Course in the United Kingdom, and holds a Master's degree in Defence Studies from King's College London. During his career, he commanded PNS Zarrar, PNS Shamsheer, PNS Zulfiqar and the 10th Patrol Craft Squadron. He also served as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Pakistan's Naval Adviser in New Delhi, and Deputy Commandant of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore. He is currently serving as Naval Secretary at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad and has been decorated with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Basalat.
