MIRPUR (Dunya News) – In a bizarre turn of events, an election candidate was arrested over charges of burning a polling station and snatching ballot boxes in LA-6 of AJK first phase elections here on Monday.
According to Bhimber SSP, IPP candidate Ali Shan Soni is accused of burning a polling station and snatching ballot boxes, adding ballot boxes have been seized from accused Ali Shan Soni.
A case has been registered against 24 people along with former Minister Ali Shan Soni.
Ali Shan Soni was contesting elections in LA-6 on the ticket of IPP.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) secured six seats while the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won three as unofficial and unconfirmed results continued to pour in late on Monday from the first phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections held across 13 constituencies in Mirpur Division.
