ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has constituted a high-level committee to address the demands of the Oil Tanker Contractors Association (OTCA) following successful talks with the association's delegation.
The committee, to be headed by the Special Secretary Petroleum, has been tasked with submitting its recommendations within one week. It will include representatives from the Directorate General of Oil (DG Oil), the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the Oil Tanker Contractors Association (OTCA), and the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC).
The development came after a meeting between the petroleum minister and an OTCA delegation led by its President Abidullah Afridi. During the meeting, the association raised concerns over the reduction in the White Oil Pipeline quota, the freight formula, and issues related to commercial loading.
Ali Pervaiz Malik directed OGRA to resolve the legitimate concerns of oil tanker contractors on a priority basis. He also instructed oil marketing companies to submit written freight contract policies, asked OGRA to strengthen the tracking of oil tankers, and directed that dealers' vehicles be kept separate from primary fuel transportation operations.
The minister reiterated that the government's foremost priority is to ensure an uninterrupted supply of petroleum products across the country while addressing stakeholders' concerns through dialogue and consultation.
The OTCA welcomed the formation of the committee and appreciated the petroleum minister's constructive role in facilitating negotiations. The association also expressed confidence that its outstanding issues would be resolved through mutual consultation.
