KARACHI (Dunya News) –The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to keep the policy rate unchanged 11.50 percent for the upcoming six weeks.
During the meeting, the committee conducted a detailed review of the overall inflation situation in the country, key economic indicators and the possible impact of ongoing tensions in the Middle East on Pakistan’s economy.
Following the discussion, the committee announced its decision regarding the policy rate.
At its previous meeting, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) also maintained the benchmark interest rate at 11.5%, stating that policymakers were evaluating the potential impact of the Middle East conflict on inflation and economic growth.
Monday's decision marked the first Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting under the SBP's advance calendar for fiscal year 2026-27. The committee's next policy announcement is scheduled for September 14.
The central bank has also increased the number of post-MPC press conferences from two to four annually, with Governor briefings set to follow policy meetings in July, October, January, and April.
