SIALKOT (Dunya News) – Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) is challenging the historical bond of Pakistan and Kashmir, and raising the issue of Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan.
Addressing a political rally here on Saturday, Khawaja Asif said he had come in support of the candidate from LA-36 Jammu 3.
He said in 1947, millions of refugees crossed the bloodline and reached Pakistan, and about 250,000 people sacrificed their lives, adding these refugees were always treated with hospitality in Pakistan.
The Defence minister said that during the last 78 years, differences and contradictions have been emerging in elections, but now the issue of refugees living in Pakistan has been made an important issue by forming a joint action committee.
Khawaja Asif said that it is the responsibility of the governments of Azad Kashmir and Pakistan to ensure development work in the affected areas.
He alleged that a group blackmailed the PPP government and the Pakistani government to collect Rs25billion, while the same action committee is now challenging the relationship between Pakistan and Azad Kashmir.
The minister demanded that immediate and effective measures be taken to address public issues, especially the provision of basic amenities, including drainage.
